N.O.W. (Not Our Waste) GROUP STATEMENT

The N.O.W. (Not Our Waste) Group was formed to represent the Residents of Beeford, North Frodingham and Foston-on-the-Wolds to fight the Planning Application for an Anaerobic Digestion Plant and make everyone aware of the detrimental effect it would have on our communities.

The Applicant, Gascorp Delta Ltd, were initially very lax in advising, not only the affected relevant parties but also the residents of the three villages, about the industrial scale of this plant and following much outcry the Applicants did finally hold an open meeting at Beeford Community Centre on Tuesday 3rd November 2015. The information supplied at this meeting, as with their Planning Application and supporting documents, was incorrect, deficient and misleading as can be seen under Summary of objection.

In response to this meeting, Residents and the N.O.W. Group arranged various meetings to provide accurate information to the community. These facts, in the form of a presentation, and many objections from Residents were given to the E.R.Y.C. Planning Committee who saw that there was justifiable evidence that this application be refused and stated “The proposal would result in the development of an uncharacteristic large scale industrial plant and buildings in the open countryside which are not agricultural in appearance, thereby causing harm to visual amenity and landscape”.

As expected, the Applicants have put in an Appeal to the Planning Inspectorate and requested a Public Inquiry. The Appeal was validated by the Inspectorate on 8th December and we have until 19th January to get our objections submitted (See: Appeal timeline). So, again, we need to fight this !

Over 700 objections were made to the original application (15/02870/STPF) which obviously had an overwhelming effect on the Councils decision but we now need to send our objections to the Inspectorate in the hope that they will also see sense and refuse this Appeal (See: How to object to Appeal).

The N.O.W. Group will aim to keep you informed of any meetings and deadlines that need to be kept. These will be posted in the Announcements section.

We will beat this ! We cannot  let this proposed development blot our rural landscape and encroach on our lives.
