AD Annual Update November 2020

What a year!!!  We never thought we would all have to cope with a worldwide pandemic that has dramatically changed our lives and the fear and concern it has brought to each and everyone of us.

Since the last update we sent you via the village newsletters last September the Now Community Action Group bank balance was £29,488.76.  We have refunded 3 donations totalling £240 and the current total stands at £28,248.76.

The committee members agreed in 2017 to hold the funds for 5 years until 2022.  If it has not been used for a fighting fund the balance will be split between the 3 villages.

Any refunds must be requested by email to angelamckie@outlook.com or post to Angela McKie, Inholmes Farm, Beeford, Driffield, East Yorkshire, YO25 8BG.  A stamped addressed envelope is also helpful please.  The closing date for refunds is 31.12.2021.

Please make sure any refund request includes 1) Your receipt number 2) The date your donation was submitted and the amount 3) If it was submitted by cash, cheque or bacs 4) The name of the person who donated and their address, email and contact tel. number.  Please note we do not have internet banking and can only issue refunds by cheque.

I have just received the latest bank statement for the Now Community Action Group account which shows a balance of £29,348.76.

The last audited accounts dated 01/03/18 showed the following income/expenditure:

The committee held a meeting in February.  Each village has a representative on the committee and it was agreed to hold the funds for 5 years.  The bank balance stands at £29,488.76 and is held in the AD current account.  We had a discussion regarding the best and safest place for the funds and agreed to hold in the current account until further notice.

29th October 2017

Since the last update in September we have received an additional £1,109.83 bringing the total raised to £33,630.09, events total £16,152.35 and expenses to date are £4,250.33 giving a balance in the bank of £29,379.76.

Once again a massive thank you to all for the amazing amount raised over the summer.  The Events organisers and helpers have been outstanding in raising such a staggering amount in a very short time.  The calendar sales are still to be completed but to date the balance stands at £2325.14.  I am not sure if there are any calendars left because they were selling very quickly but if you're looking for another stocking filler don't forget the brilliant 3 Village Cook Book published by Leah Mackereth.

We will hold the funds in the NOW current account until after Christmas when the Committee, including the Events Team Leaders, will meet to discuss where is the best place to hold the funds going forward.  The accounts will also be sent to be validated by Jackson Robson Licence after Christmas. 

To date we have no information regarding any new AD planning applications for Gascorp West Ltd but as always we are keeping a close eye and our ears to the ground.  Please also be vigilant, it is helpful if everyone plays their part in keeping up to date with the applications and any other information.

Once again a huge thank you to everyone who organised, who helped, who attended, who donated, and everyone who generously gave their time in lots of ways.

Congratulations to everyone, we've hit our target with £30,960.16 raised to date from events, donations and calendar sales and still a few events to complete, see events listing below.

We are in a very good financial position to fight any proposal that threatens our communities but we have to continue to be on our guard and ready for any proposal.  Please still be aware.

27th August 2017

Would you please note that 'Magic of the Musicals' scheduled for Saturday 9th September has been cancelled.  Catherine will however be performing in a Cabaret at the Foston Ladies Club Open Meeting on Wednesday 11th October at 7 pm in Foston Parish Hall where all guests will be welcome.  Tickets are £3 including a light supper and are available from Gill Gordon.

On 25th August we received further correspondence from ERYC requesting that any existing posters against the AD plant be removed.

Would everyone please kindly remove any posters that are still on display but perhaps put them to one side, just in case !  They again advised that no further AD waste plant applications have been submitted to date.

28th July 2017

We have today received the following statement from the ERYC Development and Control Team Leader :

"I can confirm that we do not have any new application in the system, nor am I aware of any application being submitted for an AD plant on this site.  I cannot say of course that one will never be submitted but at present there is no scheme to consider".

The ERYC Planning Enforcement Officer has also contacted us regarding the signs and posters :

"I understand that you will be aware that the appeal for the AD waste plant in the Beeford area has been withdrawn.  With that in mind, we have received an enquiry to ascertain whether the signs in Beeford, Foston and North Frodingham will now be removed? ".

We think it is wise for now to remove any large posters and banners but to keep them safe and ready to use in the event of another application.

Thank you for all you support and for displaying the posters and banners in various locations around the villages.

The planned events will continue.  Please support them and have some fun and we will keep you regularly updated on the fundraising and the amount raised.

Appeal Withdrawn

10th July 2017

We have today been advised by Elizabeth Humphrey from The Planning Inspectorate that Gascorp (West Farm) Ltd have withdrawn their Appeal, as per the following e.mail received by the Inspectorate :

"Dear Elizabeth,

Please accept this e.mail as our confirmation Gascorp (West Farm) Ltd that we wish to withdraw the above appeal.  We have notified ERYC and the Rule 6 Party of our decision.  If you require any further information please do not hesitate to contact me.    Regards,  Richard Ashford"

The NOW Group will be sending a letter to every household informing them of the decision together with what will happen to the money raised and the donations given and they also intend to hold a public meeting, date to be advised.

In the meantime the events will continue and any funds raised, as previously stated, will be split equally between the three villages.   If however, anyone would like their donation returned they can do so and we will give details of who to contact in due course.  We would however like to stress, that although Gascorp have withdrawn this Appeal, they may well submit a new application to ERYC for a smaller plant which will entail fighting again from scratch so in our opinion it would be wise to keep the money where it is for now until we know for sure what their plans are.  To date they have not put another application in.

We will endeavour to keep you all informed so please keep checking on this site for updates.

   We need your ideas, your help and most of all, your support

Unfortunately the NOW Group has to report that four members of the group have sadly decided to resign.  For the last twenty months all four of them have done a huge amount of work which we thank them for.  Sadly there has been disagreement regarding the choice of barristers we were considering using.    A well respected and experienced planning barrister has now been instructed. Fundraising

The fundraising team are doing a fantastic job with £1,540 already raised from the first two events.  Please check out the fundraising events list and go along to show your support and enjoy yourselves whilst raising funds for our cause.

We have also received a lot of donations and our thanks go to everyone who so far has donated.

The Community Action Fund now stands at £13,320.54 (as at 22nd May 2017)

 

From the NOW Group

6th March 2017

We are thanking all villagers for their continued support.

The Beeford Anaerobic Digester appeal inquiry is scheduled to begin on Tuesday 3rd October 2017. This is likely to be held at County Hall Beverley but this venue has as yet not been confirmed.

The inquiry is expected to take 6 working days, not counting Mondays.
Anyone can speak at a public inquiry; we will provide further information on this in the future.

The NOW Group now also wishes to inform all residents that fundraising is now essential to be able to have good representation at the inquiry. The group has up to now personally funded the campaign although some funds have already very kindly been donated and these have been deposited at the bank.

We are looking at raising a minimum of £30,000. This may seem a lot of money but we have 1000 households in our 3 villages. For example, this would only amount to £7.50 per person for a 4 person household, a small price to pay for not having a Waste Plant on our doorstep.
A successful outcome can of course never be guaranteed.

Some villagers have already been generous, others may not be able to afford this amount, but any donations are welcome.
